BY JORDAN · ARCHIVE: 2023–2024
I photographed Banbridge’s clock tower as part of a final-year university assignment in 2023–2024. These images are the starting point for a visual record of the building before restoration.
A familiar building,
a different perspective.
From above, the clock tower can be seen in relation to the roof, the surrounding buildings and the streets around it. A closer view brings the clock faces and roof details into focus.
Together, the photographs record both the building’s setting and the details that can be harder to see from the ground.
The context behind
the photographs.
In September 2023, Armagh I reported that plans had been submitted to restore the clock tower on the former Market House on Scarva Street. The proposed work included repairs to the clock faces and external finishes, with an emphasis on preserving the building’s character. Read the original reporting.
That report provides context for this archive. It describes plans at the time, rather than confirming the stage of the work today.

Returning to
the same view.
I’d like to return to the clock tower and photograph it as the restoration progresses. Where possible, matching the original angles would let the images show what has changed between visits.
The idea is to bring the earlier photographs, work-in-progress images and a final set together in one place. Each update would be dated, so the story follows the work through the photographs.
For now, this page brings together the original university project images. Further updates can be added as new photographs are captured.
This is a personal photography project, originally undertaken for university. It is not presented as commissioned coverage of the restoration or as involvement in the building work.
